I first heard about stoicism at Penn State because the favorite bar for all the engineers across the street from the engineering college was "Zeno's" , named after the founder of stoicism. https://www.zenospub.com/ It is great that the nerd culture that embraced stoicism has broken through to become more mainstream. For the conservative right, stoicism embraces the contribution the West has made to the world culture and stoicism is whole heartily embraced by the military of the West. For the liberal left, stoicism embraces a lot of ideals that are embraced like more enlightened concepts of love, animal rights, environmentalism, etc. For me personally, stoicism has been most important for creating psychological resilience after dealing with corruption, criminality, assaults, and death threats as a lawyer and engineer. Body armor and automatic firearms help as well, but are sold separately.

Wonderful discussion. Thank you! I especially appreciated the Stoic take on our relationship to the plants and animals that we share this world with.

Interesting how modern physics supports the idea of unity within the structure of our reality. We are more than just random atoms in the void https://youtu.be/eoStndCzFhg
