Tyranny vs. Democracy: What Would Plato Do?
Join us on Sat 26th July for a free virtual conference
Plato’s Academy Centre are delighted to invite you to join us on Saturday 26th July at 1pm EDT for the Democracy and Tyranny virtual conference. Attendance is completely free of charge, although donations to our nonprofit are gratefully received. Everyone is welcome. Videos of all presentations will be sent to you after the event if you register now.
We hear every day from people who are concerned about the future of democracy in modern society. What can philosophy do to help? What are the strengths and weaknesses of democracy? How does tyranny arise and how can we best respond to the threats it poses? These are just some of the questions we’ll be encouraging you to think about and discuss during this unique multidisciplinary event.
This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector. — Plato
