An excerpt from Christina Kourfali's "Live like the Stoics: How to Get Self-awareness and Serenity"
Given the postulates: "Only the corporeal exists in reality, whereas incorporeal does not" and "Only one corporeal can affect another corporeal", the Stoics argue that since lecta (sayables) are incorporeal, they cannot affect our soul which they hold to dispose a corporeal nature. We can only be affected by the interpretation we give to them.
